It’s Friday and time for another 10 minute challenge. We were told to use the sketch you see above as the basic layout for our card. Now, from what I understand, I haven’t played too many sketch challenges, you can be fairly liberal in your interpretation of the sketch. So, here we go.
Black and white cards tend to be my favorite and I know I can’t go wrong with those colors so I grabbed up cardstock and ran (yes, literally!) to the paper cutter to get the card started!
On a piece of Basic Gray cardstock I stamped the En Francais background stamp in Basic Black and then sponged Basic Gray onto the edges. The next step was to use the Stampin’ Up! Ticket Corner punch on the corners of this piece of cardstock and Whisper White piece that would layer right under this. As I grabbed up the white cardstock I worried a little, my fingers had black and gray ink all over them but there was no time to consider cleaning them!
Before adhering the two pieces of cardstock together I ran over the Big shot and put the Basic Gray cardstock through with the Manhattan Flower embossing folder for a little texture.
Next I grabbed up a piece of Whisper White cardstock and the rose from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. I embossed the rose with black embossing powder. With my hands flying I cut out the rose, adhered it to Basic Black cardstock and cut around it again.
A quick glance at the clock said I was doing okay but to keep working. (Looking at this picture I just might have to make some changes to my lighting sometime, apparently my head puts quite a shadow on my work when I’m working! No time to make changes right now though!)
Here’s a picture of the inside of the card. Last week I notice so many of the other participants were stamping inside their cards too . . . gonna have to do it too!
On the front I added some ribbon and Pretties and put the front onto the actual card. At that point I sat there pondering what else I could do . . . believe it or not, I spent probably a good minute of my time sitting there debating . . . . okay, can’t spend all day! I quickly stamped a few roses on the front of the envelope and aimed my camera at the clock . . .
Wow! I made it just in time! Do you want to see what it looks like?
Here’s the finished card! The ribbon could use a little work, I was in a hurry, but otherwise I think it turned out pretty well! Do you see the envelope under it?
And here’s a close up view. Woo Hoo! I can’t wait to do it again next week! Thank you for taking the time to come and see my card! I love to hear your comments if you have a minute!
