10 Minute Challenge with Embrace Life

Inspiration for stamping

Oops!  Did I say I was going to show you a card using the Night of Navy, Brocade Blue and So Saffron color challenge today?  Sorry!  I forgot about the 10 minute challenge on Fridays.  I’m going to post the 10 minute card today and show the other card tomorrow  . . . . or sometime!

This week’s challenge is an inspirational challenge. I was given the picture above and my job is look at it and make a card in 10 minutes. Well, lets see what I can come up with!

Time to stamp!

It’s time to run to the paper cutter with my Whisper White and Pretty in Pink cardstock.  Whisper White is going to be the base for the card so I grabbed the Eyelet Border punch and some Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon.

Embrace Life stamp set

I used the Embrace Life stamp set to stamp in Pretty in Pink onto Pretty in Pink.  The next step was to use one of our white gel pens to highlight the flower petals.  This was the most time consuming part of the project but it adds so much when you take the time to add the little touches.  Some of our new Vanilla Smooch Spritz also added one of the special touches.

I’m afraid I didn’t get to take too many pictures while I made this card, I was to busy working!  When I first saw the inspirational picture I noticed the colors and then I noticed the flower which looks like our large Pretties Kit flower and the butterflies that are on the wall.  (I still can’t believe the Pretties are retiring!)

Done!We

Whew!  I think I did it!  I really should get a timer so I can know to the second how close I am, then again, maybe it’s to my advantage not to have that exact of information!

Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die

Here’s the finished card.  You can’t really see the smooch spritz but if you look closely, you may be able to see thee Dazzling Diamonds I put on the swirls of the Beautiful Wings Embosslit butterfly.  In the photo it looks like the Pretties flower has a pink tint.  I didn’t do anything to the flower, I left it white, but all the pink around it is giving a bit of a tint.

Stampin' Up! Eyelet Border Punch

When I punched the Eyelet Border Punch along the front of the card it took away some of the base.  I used some Pretty in Pink ribbon across the inside of the card to show through and make a pretty border when the card is opened.

Inside a handstamped card

See what I mean?  This pretty ribbon gets to be seen at all times, whether the card is open or closed.

So, what do you think?  I kind of had the handmade Mother’s Day card that I made for my mother in mind when I made this card.  When you’re working fast sometimes it helps to have an idea from a previous project in mind.  To be truthful, I’ve been working fast on a lot of projects the last couple days.  We’re getting ready to head out on vacation soon and I want to have plenty of projects to show each day while we’re away – I think I’ve got them ready!  They’re very exciting!

Thanks for stopping by!  If you have a moment to leave a comment I’d love to hear from you!

Becky, you seem to work really well under pressure! I had to take another look at the Mother’s Day card, and I like this one even much better. Even though I’m not a “pink person,” I like this design a lot – especially the butterfly and the background. (Once in a while, I do make a pink card for a real “pink person!”)

Thats is very clever idea to use ribbon under the border punch. I think the card is very elegant, thanks for sharing.

Beautiful card. I love the background you did, and the butterfly on the flower. All very simple yet elegant. And I am amazed at your times. Don’t know how you do that!

Very very pretty. I wish I could do so well under pressure. It would take me a lot longer than 10 minutes to come up with something so pretty.

Thanks for sharing,
Kim
