1st 10 Minute Handmade Card Challenge

Stampin' Up! Colors

I mentioned the other day that I am part of 2 design teams.  I didn’t quite know what I was getting into with the one design team.  Somehow I missed the fact that I had to create a card in just 10 minutes!  As part of the challenge, I was not only limited on time, I had to use the colors Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry.  Whew!  Here we go!

Ready to go

Here we go, this is a picture of the clock on the wall just before beginning.

Finial Press Embossing Folder

I ran to the paper cutter and cut 6 pieces of Chocolate Chip that were 1 1/2″ x 1 1/4″ in size.  Quickly shifting to the Big Shot I ran them through with the Finial Press Embossing folder.  I also grabbed the Stampin’ Up! exclusive Little Leaves sizzlit die and cut out some Always Artichoke leaves.

Getting the pieces ready

As I struggled withe Boho Blossom punch (mine has problems and takes some muscle) I glanced at the clock.  Yikes!  5 minutes are gone already!  I can’t take any more pictures, I’ve got to work!

Done!

Whew!  I’m a smidgen over.  I have to be honest though, I was sure it was going to much longer!  I knew how I wanted to do the ribbon on my card but tried to find a “quicker” way to do it.  Yeah, right.  Never try  to find a faster way when you only have 10 minutes!!

Finished Stampin' Up! Card

I scrunched up the punched flowers and created a 3-D flower which I adhered to a brad which is holding the bow in place.  I’m not sure how well you can see it here in this pictures, let’s try a closer look.

Stampin' Up! handmade card

I’ve learned some lessons for next week.  It’s great to start with an idea in my head but I need to get out the tools for that idea before I start (or at least make sure they’ve been put away properly before beginning!)  I can be really bad about loosing things so I need all the help I can get.

This was pretty fun!  I’m kinda looking forward to next week now!  I hope you’ll come back to see what I create next week and every day in between!

I am impressed, Becky. It usually takes me 10 minutes (or longer) just to decide which colors I want to use – since I’m not a Chocolate Chip “freak!” :) I like the little scrunchy flower – I need to try that. And your lines are even straight! Give yourself a pat on the back.

Yeah Becky you DID IT.. Awesome card, and only a smidge over, good for you. It’s kind of addicting isn’t it? And, yep, knowing where your “stuff” is helps too. I love your card, so elegant that that little scrunchy flower is just darling what a wonderful idea.

Very pretty , Becky. I am still trying to figure out how to use Mr. Linky as I’d love to show you my creation as well. All in good time…

Love it! I wouldn’t have known what to do with those colors and I’m with Kate~ it would have taken me longer than 10 minutes to get the supplies out!

I love the card but I think it would be more porportioned if the ribbon was not so wide and there was another spray of flowers repeated.
