30 Minute Scrapbook Sketch Challenge

Scrapbook Sketch

I’ve been pretty bad about doing the Stamp-A-Holics timed challenges lately – I’m sorry!  I love doing these, I just don’t seem to have a lot of the “time” part lately!  This week we have a scrapbook sketch challenge (and I came up with it using our MDS!).  We are supposed to look at this sketch and then go and make a scrapbook page looking something like this within 30 minutes.

Ready or not!

Okay, ready or not, here I go!  I’m ready to stamp!

Delightful Decorations & Tags til Christmas

The first order of business is some stamping.  (Do you see the purple ornament – that was an oops!  That’s what happens when you leave an uncleaned stamp lying on your desk overnight that was used with red ink and then the next morning you pick it up and ink it with blue ink.)

I used stamps from the Delightful Decorations stamp set on page 35 of the Idea Book & Catalog and from the Tags til Christmas stamp set found on page 24 of the Occasions Mini Catalog. They are inked in Marina Mist and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.

From here on out I forgot to take pictures – I was busy working!  I used some clear tinsel, basic pearls, Chocolate Chip, Organza ribbon, a star punch (retired), some Silver Glass Glitter, the Naturally Serif die and lots of dimensionals.

How did I do on time?

It looks like I hit it right on the dot – 30 minutes exactly!  Whew!  Did I mention that my littlest came down while I was stamping to  have me put his Spiderman costume on?  Mommy stripped that costume on him faster than ever before!

Thank you for visiting today!  I hope you’ll take a minute to leave a comment.  Oh, what, you mean you actually want to see the finished project?  Oh, well, I guess I can do that!

Christmas Scrapbook Page

Here it is!  I’m very please with it other than the fact that the tree trunk is a little wide for the tree. . . .  What do you think?  It has a nice cool, crisp, breezy feel to it I think!

Ever since I first got the current Stampin’ Up! catalog I have wanted to make a scrapbook page with the same basic idea of the picture they show on page 35.  I finally did!

Naturally Serif decorative strip die

I like the word “family” under the photo.  I cut the letters out in Marina Mist and adhered them onto the Marina Mist background using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  It’s a really neat effect when you want it there but you don’t want a huge contrast in colors distracting from the rest of the page.

Tags til Christmas

And here’s a close up of one of the ornaments.  This one is from the Tags til Christmas stamp set.  You’ve just gotta love that clear tinsel and those pearls!

Three pictures later, I’m still very happy you came to visit me today and I still hope you will take a minute to leave a comment!  If you have  a few extra minutes, you may wish to see what the other Stamp-A-Holic design team members did for the challenge – just follow the link I’ve provided!

PS:  this is my second post of the day.  Be sure to check out my Northern Flurry Christmas Card too!
