Bridal Gown Shower Card

by Becky Jensen on May 3, 2009

Wedding Shower CardI’ve seen a lot of people making cards with these dresses on them.  To be quite honest, I wasn’t really liking them.  I’m not a sundress sort of person and all the bright DSP prints weren’t doing it for me.  When I saw the dress done in Whisper White though, that finally did it.  Here is my take.

The dress is made using the Scallop Circle bigz die for the Big Shot and then just cut out the sides.  For this dress I cut it out of both Whisper White Cardstock and Vellum (paper weight).  The vellum is embossed with the Manhattan flower and then held to the dress with the Pretty in Pink Ribbon.  (The bow was tied separately and is held on with a glue dot.)

The Basic Black cardstock is also embossed with one of the Stampin’ Up! exclusive texturz plates.  Using a stamp from the All Holidays stamp set, the Eyelet Border punch and some half pearls and a flower from the Pretties Kit finished it up.

Will you do me a favor and leave a comment letting me know you stopped by today?  With all this nice weather the comments have been slim lately.   I’d love to know you’re stopping by to visit my blog!  Happy creating!

Becky, This is absolutely gorgeous. What a great idea!!! I am going to use this in my next workshop. Do you have a pattern or did you just count the scallops for the top and for the bottom and angle cut? WOWZA!!!

Thank you Micky! I did not have a pattern but I did look at someone else’s card. I cut the scallop circle out of a scrap piece of paper and drew the lines with a pencil to get it right, then I used that as my pattern. It’s 10 scallops at the bottom and 4 at the top. Thanks for stopping by!

I’m with you there! I really like the Whisper White, but wasn’t crazy about the others. Looks like fun!

I’ve been liking the sundresses, but this is the best yet!! I might just have to rethink the invitations for my future daughter-in-law’s bridal shower. Thanks for sharing!!

This would be a beautiful card for a bridal shower. Since the dress is white, it sorta reminds me of a gown :) Its quite unique – again, never would have had the creativity in my brain to make it, but you did!! Thanks for sharing!

Looks really good, Becky–I like the stark contrast of the black and white, with the touch of pink to keep it “pretty, but not froofy.”

I was just wondering if you used the scallop circle or the scallop circle number 2. I’m not sure of the size difference. I have the scallop square but not sure if that would work… Thank you. I have a shower to go to soon and this really is very cute.

Hi Monterey,

I used the larger scallop to make the wedding dress. Have fun making your card!

I love what you did with this card, the dress is beautiful! I am a demonstrator also and have recently signed up for the DBWS – still developing it, with some frustration. I really enjoy your site and just finished making the ornament punch rose – I love it and your tutorial was great. Thanks so much, I’ll be stopping back regularly.

I absolutely love this! If only you could tell me what measurements the waistline is, I would be forever grateful! Thank you tons! It’s beautiful!
