Fun Mr. Owl Card

by Becky on June 25, 2009

On Board So TweetSometimes it’s fun to be creative and goofy at the same time!  I had a lot of fun making this owl today.  Despite the long eyelashes it reminded me of  a little old man so that’s why I decided to go with the “Happy Retirement” message from the Teeny Tiny Messages stamp set (coming out in the new catalog.)

On this card you’ll see that I used a variety of embellishments, including some I sometimes find hard to use.   Around the owls eyes are clips from the Clips Assortment on page 176 in the catalog.  The eyelashes were made using narrow grosgrain ribbon, I simply cut the edge off the ribbon and then pulled out some strands to fray the ribbon.  The owl’s pants are DSP from the Urban Oasis DSP with Chocolate Chip Ribbon for the belt.

The owl and branch are chipboard from the On Board So Sweet pack and then I colored them with Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and Olive Olive Craft Inks.  On the leaves I used Fine Cosmo which is held on with Heat & Stick Powder.

I hope this little guy puts a smile on your face today!  Happy stamping!

This is great, Beck! A variety of these would be good to tuck into Mom Barr’s Christmas collection–she has a lot of friends retiring from teaching.
