Handmade Desktop Calendar with Easel Display & Drawer

by Becky Jensen on January 16, 2010

I made this special project for my hostess today.  Shhh!  Don’t tell!  Amanda, my hostess, used a “Yes!” coupon when she booked her party so I she’s been promised a special gift.  She won’t get this particular box but one very much like it.  I will be making part of it there at the party.

The bottom is a drawer that opens with a gentle pull of the flower brad.  I used Orchid Opulence cardstock and Cottage Walls DSP to make the box.  The top is a special sort of card.

It’s an easel card.  When the card is in the upright position it reveals a calendar!

Isn’t this neat?!  I wish I could take credit for the idea but I can’t.  Someone out there came up with the idea and it’s been spreading around until it finally got to me.  Actually, some of my downline members were the ones who encouraged me to make it yesterday!  Thanks guys!

The vine is stamped in Old Olive with the Vintage Vogue stamp set (page 26 of the Occasions Mini Catalog) and the saying is from the Heard from the Heart stamp set (page 142 Idea Book & Catalog).  I love the butterflies which were cut and embossed with the Stampin’ Up! exclusive Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die and then I used a 2-way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds to give it a little bling.  Some Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon and a silver flower brad finished out the cardfront standing on the easel.

I hope Amanda will like this!  Don’t you want to book a party so you can get something special too?

This is truly gorgeous. Has the tutorial and information on where to get the calendars been posted, or am I so computer challenged that I can’t find it and need to get my kids to assist!!! LOL. Your work is stunning.

Hi Cheryl,

No, I have not posted where to get the calendars. I purchased them as part of a big share where another demonstrator bought several thousand of them and split them up. I believe I got 25 from that. The particular place where that other demo got them only has a limited supply and I do believe we wiped them out. Unless you are really set on having a calendar there, how about putting a post it note pad that you’ve stamped on? I’m sorry I cannot be of more help!

Thanks so much for the response. I have been all over the internet, however, cannot find them. A friend suggested a local print shop could do it??? I may try that. Please let me know when the instructions go up, can’t wait to make one. All your work is just beautiful. You are truly a talented artist and SU and your customers are lucky to have you.
