Handmade Wedding Invitations & Stationary

by Becky Jensen on May 5, 2010

Wedding time!

Welcome to day 1 of the Special Occasions Blog tour!  We’re sharing ideas for some of those extra special occasions in life.  I personally have decided to focus on weddings during the tour.  (The fact that I had a family member ask me to design and make their wedding invitations certainly helped with that decision!)  I thought it would be nice to create coordinating pieces, afterall, there is more to the printing for a wedding than just the invitation so it might as well all match!

Handmade Wedding Invitation

Here is the invitation.  This is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ in size.   The Very Vanilla Satin ribbon really makes this look very elegant!  The monogram you see is from the Lovely Letters Alphabet stamp set and the decoration around it is from the Together Forever stamp set.  Both are embossed in black.

Inside the invitation

Here’s the inside of the invitation.  It’s simple but very elegant.  This same layout idea could very easily be used for the wedding program as well. A layer of Very Vanilla could be added to the left page or you could use brads to attach multiple layers on the right side.

Wedding Response Card

Here is the response card to go along with the invitation.  A satin bow could also be placed on this card but I decided not to for the sake of postage since it will be in the same envelope as the invitation.

Reception Place Cards

Once you get to the reception you may need place cards.  Can you see the black embossing on the very bottom of the black cardstock?  That same embossing is on each of the pieces of wedding stationary but unfortunately it is hard to pick up in the picture.  Embossing black on black gives a really neat, almost velvety look to the cardstock.  For this effect I used the border vine from the Vintage Vogue stamp set.

Wedding Favor

Of course everyone looks forward to the favor!  This little 2 inch square box is just right for some chocolate or maybe even a little votive candle (if it doesn’t fit the box could easily be adjusted to make it fit.)  I made a little flower using the 1″ circle punch  and a vanilla bead from the Pretties Kit.  These are very simple to make!

Wedding Stationary

Lastly, it’s always handy to have some wedding stationary.  These cards (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ in size) would be great for sending a note to your wedding party members or for thank you notes for all those lovely gifts.  For that matter, with the lovely monogram these would be great for any correspondence the new couple has, wedding related or not.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this set of wedding stationary!  Tomorrow I will have another, totally different, set to share with you.  I hope you’ll come back to see it!  You may not be getting married but at some point you’ll know someone who is and perhaps you’ll want to share these lovely handmade wedding ideas with them.

If you have a moment to leave a comment I would love to hear from you!  Be sure to go on to visit Jannette Shaw next to see what she has to share.
