Holiday Blog Tour Day 2

by Becky Jensen on September 11, 2009

Delightful Deocrations gift setWelcome to day 2 of the Holiday Blog Tour!  Don’t forget to print your wish list and leave a comment so you can be entered into the drawing for a small prize!  If you left a comment yesterday thank you!  You are welcome to leave a comment each day for more chances to win.

Today I want to show you a little holiday gift set I made using the Delightful Decorations stamp set (page 24 Mini Catalog)  and Merry Moments DSP (page 160 IBC).    I Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalog Sampleshope you’ll enjoy the closeup pictures and details.

When I made this project I had the colors Whisper White and Real Red in mind because of candy canes.  The problem, the DSP is actually Very Vanilla and Real Red.  Because I wanted to emboss the joy ornament in white, I decided to combine the two colors.  To help with that, I Petals-A-Plenty Embossing Folderstamped the swirly from Baroque Motifs (page 131 IBC) in Very Vanilla Craft Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

holiday cookie treat 3The Real Red cardstock is dry embossed with the Big Shot and the Stampin’ Up! Exclusive Petals-A-Plenty (page 21 Mini Catalog) embossing folder which adds some fun texture.

On the envelope as well as the inside of the card I stamped the edge with Real Red Classic Ink and the same swirly used on the card.  The sentiment is from the God’s Blessings stamp set (page 140 of the IBC).

holiday cookie treat 4Now for the gift!  The packaging you see here is a Crystal Light container (well, actually, this particular one is an off brand but it’s the same thing.)

Handmade Cookie Packaging

Once again I used the Merry Moments DSP and Delightful Decorations stamp set so the gift will match the card.  At the top and bottom of the tube I used Real Red Narrow Grosgrain Ribbon and then Organza Ribbon for the bow.  The ornaments, punched with the Ornament Punch (page 25 Mini) are hanging with Silver Elastic Cord(page 27 Mini).  I did go ahead and use a glue dot at the bottom of each ornament to keep it from flying away.  The Glorious Green ornament has “To” and “From” for easy gift giving.

So, are you wondering what’s in the gift yet?  Chocolate Chip Cookies!  I was able to fit 12 small cookies in with no problem!  Now tell me who wouldn’t want to get this?!  Of course if you don’t want to bake cookies, candy fits very well too.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this “green” idea for gift giving!  Don’t forget to leave a comment so you are entered into the drawing!  Blog Tour Links have now been removed.

Now I know what to do with the 400 crystal light containers my mom will not through out. You are an awesome inspiration in repurposing. Thanks for mentoring a newbie.

Stephanie September 12, 2009 at 10:35 pm

I would LOVE to receive a container full of cookies anytime. You have lots of cute ideas and this Holiday Blog Tour is great because you all show so many different ways to use the stamps/papers etc.

Terry Molineux September 13, 2009 at 9:18 am

Really love this gift set what a cool idea to store those xmas cookies!

Jennifer Lang September 13, 2009 at 3:47 pm

Wahoo – Let’s stamp and bake – now there’s a winning combination! If Jennifer would like to share some of her Mom’s 400 containers, I would love a dozen or two. Becky-I love how you overcame the challenge of whisper white and very vanilla. (That’s where I very well may have gotten overwhelmed and thrown up my arms, again!) Keep up the great work!
