Materials that the Big Shot can cut

materials for the Big ShotI’ve been receiving a lot of questions lately about the Big Shot.  Of course this is the best time to invest in one seeing as it is Sale-A-Bration time!  I decided to try out various materials and see if the Big Shot could cut through them.

The picture shows the materials I found around our house to try.

Here’s what you’re seeing:

  • Contact paper
  • Thin sheet of metal (sorry, I don’t know what kind)
  • ChipboardCork cut by Big Shot
  • Shelf liner
  • Felt
  • Cross stitch canvas
  • Cork
  • Milk carton
  • Fabric
  • Magnetic strip
  • Craft Foam
  • Makeup sponge

I was very impressed with how easily these items went through the machine.  The only real difficulty I had was with the magnet.  It cut perfectly well but got stuck in the die and took a little work to get it out.  I’m sure the fact that the blade is steel and I was cutting a magnet didn’t help any!

sponge cut by Big ShotStampin’ Up! has released a list of 50 “approved” items for the Big shot.  Most of these items were on that list but not all of them.  I do not have a lot of the items on the list to try.  A few of the other items they list include thin leather, fine sandpaper, shrink film, terry cloth, balsa wood and more.  If you have questions feel free to send them my way.
