New Catalog Goodies Blog Tour

by Becky on July 7, 2010

Welcome to day one of the RemARKable Stampers blog tour!  It’s been so busy I haven’t even had a chance to tell you to look forward to the tour – surprise!  I hope you’ll find this a wonderful way to see some new items out of the new Catalog and be inspired!

Becuase I Care stamp set

The first part of my project for today was made using the Because I Care stamp set.  The stem of the flower is a lollipop stick with no lollipop attached (and no, I didn’t eat it!).  I simply used my Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Marker to color the stick a nice stem color.  The leaves were made using the Ornament Punch, the Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Marker and my paper snips and then attached to the stem with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Side View

Can you see how I used eight layers to make this flower?  I stamped the large flower 6 times and the small flower 2 times using our new in-color Concord Crush.  For some nice contrast I then colored them using our Bashful Blue marker – I just love how these colors look together on this flower!

I began with two full flowers and then gradually layered smaller and smaller pieces on each.  When I had the two flowers done I adhered one of each side of the stem using Crystal Effects.  It took a few minutes to dry but trust me, I had plenty more to do.

Did I happen to mention that I made three of these flowers??  It was a bit time consuming but worth it in the end.

Baskets & Blooms Big Shot Die

The next part was the easy part.  I cut the parts for the basket using our new Early Espresso cardstock and the Baskets & Blooms Big Shot Die which took no time at all.  After cutting I sent the sides of the basket back through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing folder.  You may recognize this folder from the Summer Mini Catalog, it is also in the new Idea Book & Catalog!  The texture this folder gives is just great for a basket!

The bow was made using our new 1/8″ Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon.  The little flowers around the bottom of the basket are from the Because I Care stamp set and I simply stamped, colored, cut and adhered them on with glue dots.

Would you like to see the finish project?!

Handstamped project of the day

Here you go!  Wouldn’t this make a lovely centerpiece on a table or a basket of flowers to cheer up someone in the hospital or nursing home.  Actually, I think anyone who appreciates handstamped items would be very happy to receive this for just about any occasion you could dream up!

I used a little crinkled paper I had lying around from my kids Easter baskets to fill the basket because I was lazy.  (Really, now that I have my crimper it wouldn’t take me long to make my own in a color I would prefer but I didn’t think of that until it was finished and pictures taken.)

Thank you for stopping by to visit me today!  I hope you will leave a comment and then click on over to visit Maria and the other RemARKable Stamper’s projects!  Be sure to check back on Friday and Saturday as well for more projects!

Beautiful! What a great idea. I love that set and I love hydrangeas. I guess that’s one way to have them around all year. Thanks for sharing.
