New Razzle Dazzle Stamp Set

Razzle Dazzle stamp setLet me introduce the new Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Razzle Dazzle!  Well, really I’m only showing you one of the stamps in the set, the viney flower stamp.  The words “just for you” are from another new stamp set, Teeny Tiny Wishes which I know is going to be a big hit!

When I sat down to play with this stamp set the first thing I did with the viney flower stamp (how would you explain it???) was color it with Stampin’ Write markers from the Soft Subtles color family.  That just didn’t do it for me.  Not the look I wanted at all.  For those of you who know me well, I enjoy making black and white cards on occassion and this stamp just needed to be done in black.

I started by stamping the image all over a piece of Whisper White cardstock to create a background.  When you do this, there are a couple important things to remember.  You want to make it look like the design keeps on going.  Be sure to stamp with your image going off the edges and be sure to stamp the images close together.  These are the two things I notice often with new stampers who aren’t thrilled with their finished product.

Oops, sidetracked!!  Okay, I think the layout for this card ended up coming from a card I saw recently.  The other card didn’t use these colors, this stamp set or anything else similar, in fact, I don’t even know where I saw the card, the general layout of two perpendicular lines and a diamond just stuck in my mind.  You will notice the two lines running left to right.  This is Basic Black narrow grosgrain ribbon.  There is a knot tied on each piece of ribbon but it is hard to see in the picture.

By having the piece of Basic Black cardstock and the black lines of ribbon it draws your eye not to the business of the background but to the focal point of the card, inside the diamond.

I hope you liked this sneak peek.  Tomorrow I’m going to show you something special I did on the wall in the oldest two boy’s bedroom.  You’re going to like it!
