Organization and Storage in the New Year

by Becky Jensen on January 2, 2010

The new year always seems to be the time when everyone wants to get organized.  I can be included in that “everyone.”  I’ve been working on various parts of our house.

Have you noticed how all of the stores have their storage containers out in full view and they’re in all the advertisements?  They know we’re all searching for a way to make neat the chaos that reigns.

I’m working very hard to use the storage type item I already have on hand and spice them up with a bit of fun stamping and accessories.  This is my sample card basket that I carry to parties and display in my classroom.  I noticed yesterday that the liner that’s usually in it was in bad need of washing.  In the meantime . . . . I decided to spice it up a bit!  These are the Sweat Pea Stitched Felt Flowers in the Occasions Mini Catalog and some Old Olive ribbon.  All of the flowers are attached directly to the ribbon so when I decide to put the liner back on, or change it in some other way, all I have to do is take off the ribbon!

Isn’t it a pretty basket?  Now I won’t have the hostess husbands asking me why the basket (liner) says “bread” on it and I won’t have to say this basket represents my bread and butter . . . .  I’d just love to have one of them ask about the flowers!  :)

You didn’t think you were going to get away without something from the Vintage Vogue stamp set did you???  Here’s another basket which my mom gave me a while back.  I decided to spice up this storage as well.

Once again I used the Vintage Vogue stamp set with corduroy button brads, vintage brads and grosgrain ribbon in Bravo Burgundy, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla.  Yes, I do promise to make something with this set in different colors . . . one of these days!

Do you have some storage containers, or better yet, some “recyclable” containers you can use for your organization this new year?  I encourage you to see if you can’t spice up some of the things you already have.  I’d love for you to share them with me when you do!

This may be the last day of our blog tour but it’s certainly not the last of what I have to share with you!  Here’s a little sneak peek at the goodie (and yummy!) I’m going to be sharing tomorrow.  I hope you’ll come back then for more details and pictures!

Thank you for stopping by!  Be sure to continue on to visit Jan Shaw’s blog as the next stop on the Love Blog Tour!

I like how you spiced up your storage baskets with SU! products. They look great. So many ideas…never enough time to do them all!

Very Pretty…what a good idea. I’ve been using a rubbermaid container with a cover. So plain looking,,,,

Wow!! I got some of those flowers for being a certified MDS demonstrator. I was going to hoard them for a while till I decided what I wanted for a spectacular way to use them. I found it!! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration.
