Recycled Trash to Storage Bottle

Recycled Trash

I sat down today to recycle some more of my trash.  I took a plastic bottle that once held nuts and turned it into this lovely canister to hold teabags.

Trash to Treasure

This is what I started with.

Vintage Label stamp set

I’m not a tea drinker but I do have teabags around and I thought they could use a lovely home.   I like to use the teabags for myTea for Two Packets and for company.

I used the Kind Thoughts Brocade Stencil for the background.  I thought it was neat how I was able to use the Vintage Label stamp set inside the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware.  For a little variety I decided to use our Chocolate Chip Epoxy Brads to attach the Hardware to the  Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon.

Stampin' Up! Punch Flower

I took the plain, bland plastic lid and dressed it up to fit the occasion.  This pretty bottle needed a pretty lid to make it extra noticeable.

Circle Punch Flower

I fashioned this flower much like I made the rose with the Stampin’ Up! Ornament Punch, however, this time I used a circle punch for each petal.  The middle of the flower is a Chocolate Chip Corduroy Botton.  The larger corduroy button is just the right size for the flower.

What do you think?  Isn’t it fun to turn trash into treasure?  I love it!  Reminds me so much of when I was little.  One of my friends and I used to take old egg cartons and any little bits of craft supplies that we could find and make little “crafts” to sell.  I’m so glad our moms were willing to buy from us, I don’t think anyone else every did!  Hopefully the treasures I make these days are a little better than they were back then!

  1. That flower is amazing and so simple! I love it! I have a few pieces of “trash in waiting” awaiting conversion 😀 thanks for the inspiration

  2. I love seeing what can be made with ‘trash’! Its such a great idea! Wouldn’t this be a nice gift for a child’s school teacher at the end of the year? Thanks for sharing, Becky!

  3. OMGoodness! That is so awesome! I have GOT to get me one of those!! That flower is so pretty! First one I have seen using the circle punch. Great job!! Thanks for sharing!

  4. I love the flower! What size circle punch did you use?

  5. What a wonderful idea! This turned out beautiful. I will now go home and see what I can recycle into something beautiful.

  7. What a great idea! I love the flower. Thanks for blessing my day! 🙂

  8. I love the tea bag storage idea. The boxes they come in are so hard to keep nice. It would also be a lovely gift for a friend or someone who is sick. Thanks

  9. What a FABULOUS idea! See, I need to show my hubby this post so he understands why I have all the “extra” containers in the garage! lol

  10. Love how you made this flower…do you have instructions for it?

I am awarding you with the Sunshine Award today, please go to my blog to pick it up.
