Trying something new with Texturz Plates

Elegant Thank You cardI’m excited to show you this card, not because it’s the most beautiful but because I want you to see the technique I used.  That wonderful texture you see is actually done with aluminum foil!  We all have some of that out in the kitchen!

Okay, so how did I do it and how does it keep the shape when being touched or adhered?  Simple!  No, I didn’t originate the idea, I just followed directions!

I took a piece of aluminum foil and stuck a large size address label to it making sure the foil was nice and flat.  Then, I adhered the foil/label to a piece of cardstock.  That gives the foil some thickness.  Then, simply run it through the Big Shot with a Texturz Plate as you would a normal piece of cardstock!

Now I don’t have huge address lables this size.  What you see here is two large size address labels.  If you were to take apart the card you would find the ribbon is covering up the blank space between the two pieces of foil.  That’s our little secret!

So, what do you think?  I think it’s a great new technique.  I can’t wait to use it some more.  I’m thinking it’ll look great with Basic Black cardstock or Night of Navy cardstock.

The Elegant Thank You stamp used in this card can be yours for free this month!!  This stamp is found on page 208 of the Idea Book & Catalog.  If you would like more information about how you can receive this and other stamps for free during the month of April 2009 just keep reading through this post.

Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini CatalogYesterday I mentioned the new Occasions Mini Catalog and a special we have right now.  It’s a good one!   If you do not have a copy of the mini catalog, you can view it simply by clicking on the picture of the Occasions Mini Catalog to the left.

Now for information on the special!  If you order $40.00 worth of merchandise (before shipping and tax) from the mini catalog, you can choose any item from the “Under $10” page (page 208) in the big catalog for free!  With an $80 purchase you get to choose 2 for free and so on.  Also, hostesses can get these stamps for free too.  For each $150 worth of sales in a party the hostess receives a free stamp set.  (So, my wonderful hostess from last Saturday was able to get 3 of the stamps for free, in addition to to hostesses sets and free hostess merchandise) with her $450+ party!)
