Decorative Metal Storage with Stampin' Up! Vinyl

My husband came home yesterday with this metal container (undecorated of course) saying he didn’t need it at this office.  Of course I jumped on it right away!  As I’ve mentioned before, I’m trying to organize my stamping classroom and I’ll take any containers I can get right now!

I could have stamped on the metal with stazon ink but I decided to go for our vinyl sheets and the Big Shot.  I used the Decorative Accents die found on page 199 of the Idea Book & Catalog to cut Chocolate Chip vinyl and then put them around the base (well, confession, I cheated and only did the front because the back shouldn’t be seen.)

Around the top I tied some Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon.  It really didn’t take much to dress up this container.  It’s not really fancy but it’s certainly spiffier than before!  this is going to sit up near the ceiling so there wasn’t much point in doing a lot of small detail that wouldn’t be seen.

Okay, are you asking why it’s going to be up near the ceiling?  Although my sons aren’t supposed to be in my stamping room and although they’re not supposed to touch my stuff . . . they’re boys and they’re little (2,4 and 5).  This container is being used to house all those chemicals, the Stampin’ Mist, fixatives, exacto knives and the like that little guys shouldn’t be getting into.

Thank you for visiting my website!  I hope you’re finding lots of good ideas!  Thank you for the comments you’ve been leaving!

  1. That’s a great idea, Becky! Does the vinyl come with adhesive on it? I must admit I was curious as to why it was being stored ‘high’, but that makes sense! Had a great time at Card Class last night!

  2. WOW! What an awesome way to decorate that tin. I love metal tins they are so cute!!! 🙂
